Casa Illica is a unique residence in keeping with the current trend in ‘boutique art hotels’. It was brought to realization through the imagination of its owners, a combined product of their taste and personality, from the ideas and experiences of their travels, coupled with their enthusiasm for Castell’Arquato and the surrounding area.
The owners, who personally followed the two-year restoration project, are offering the opportunity of a memorable stay, in a unique and historic residence in the centre of this medieval town, situated between Piacenza, Parma and the Verdiane lands … a destination suited to refined tastes.
The 19th century Casa Illica residence, where Luigi Illica, the famous librettist of Puccini, was born in 1857, is now opening its doors to those traveling with their friends or family. Far from the spotlight, this is an ideal destination for travelers seeking to discover and explore the enchanting countryside, villages that have remained intact through the course of time, to experience the culture and poetry of a territory, as well as, of course, the internationally renowned gastronomy of Emilia. Strategically situated on the foothills of the Val’ D’Arda and on the Via Francigena pilgrim’s route, the medieval village of Castell’Arquato dominates the surrounding countryside. It is a place steeped in history, a history that has left an indelible mark which today can be seen in the castle, the church, the ancient walls, the narrow cobbled streets and the grand and monumental piazza.
